Topic:
Architecture of Kiosk-Style Instrument with Embedded PC
Presented By: Sergey Liberman, Owner and Principal Consultant of Solidus Integration

Building an instrument around an embedded PC raises some software development and IT concerns that are not a factor for software development that targets consumer PCs. This presentation will address these concerns based on the presenter’s experience developing industrial and research instruments with embedded PCs. Although the developer uses LabVIEW in all his projects, this presentation is not LabVIEW-specific. The following issues will be addressed:
  • Hardware considerations
  • Choice of the operating system: Windows vs Linux
  • Choice of the operating system: Windows 7 vs Windows 10
  • Use of embedded-enabling features of Windows
  • Protecting the OS from the user
  • Instrument software maintenance
  • Demonstrations
