How does Wonder work?
The idea is simple: each person is represented by a little avatar. By clicking or dragging your mouse, your avatar can move around the virtual room. Once you get close enough to someone else’s avatar, a video chat will open. You can see other people moving around the virtual room and having conversations with each other, but you cannot hear or join their conversation until your avatar moves close enough to their circle.
How do I move around the room?
Click anywhere in the room with your mouse and keep holding – your avatar will follow and stop wherever your mouse is.
How do I chat with other guests?
If you want to join a conversation, just move your avatar close enough to the group until your avatar is standing within their circle. You can also use the chat feature in the sidebar to message individual guests, your current circle or the whole room.
Can I turn off video and audio?
You can turn off your video by clicking on the camera icon at the bottom of your screen. Other guests will see a black screen with your avatar picture when you are part of their conversation. You can turn off your audio by clicking on the microphone icon at the bottom of the room. Other guests will not be able to hear you until you unmute.
How do I know who else is in the room?
By clicking on the three lines (Participants) in the sidebar, you can view all guests in the room. There, you will see their picture, name and their answer to the icebreaker question. You can also click on any guest and a direct chat will open.
Can I write messages to other guests in the room?
Wonder has a chat feature that you can open by clicking on the speech bubble icon. You can send direct private messages to other guests (Private), messages to all guests in your current circle (Circle) or send a message to the whole room (Everyone).
How do I know who is listening to my conversation?
Only guests who are standing in the circle right next to you can participate in your conversation, so you can see who you are speaking to. There is no way for guests to be hidden, so you can always see their avatar, hear them and see their screen. You can also always see all guests who are currently in the room.
What are the supported browsers and devices?
- Wonder supports all major browsers with the exception of Edge and Opera.Tip: Update your browser before the event to help avoid technical issues.
- Wonder works best on desktop (Laptops, PCs). A lighter mobile version for guests who are not able to join from a desktop device is also available. On mobile devices, all browsers but Chrome on iOS devices are currently supported. Tablets are not supported.
